Champion BoxingSTORY / GAMEPLAY
You are a Pro Boxer and participate in one-off matches or enter a tournament to become World Champion. The matches can be set at four difficulty levels. There are three different punches to master here: the upper cut and low and high long punches. Defense includes ducking as well as shuffling backwards and forwards. Your skills can be upgraded by consecutively clearing into higher levels. If in Level 5 you win by a 10 count KO you'll become the World Champion! As long as you successfully hit your opponent, his strength meter decreases until it gets too low; then the fighter falls down. The referee starts counting and when he gets up again, he continues the round with his strength slightly increased. If you keep on fighting him like that, then it's easy to win the fight! Note that the game also supports a two-player fight too. Champion Boxing is probably one of the best boxing games released for the 8bit MSX systems.

GRAPHICS / SOUND
This is a good looking 8bit boxing game having colorful graphics with huge sprites and smooth sprite animation. Throwing low, middle, and upper punches directly to the opponent's face or body the character's animation is superb; note that the crowd at the background is animated too! I also think the colors used on the MSX version are better than the Sega SG-1000 console system! The sound is typical for a boxing game, offering a few spot effects when hitting the opponent, crowd cheering when you win the match, and a few short tunes prior to the fight.
